The Best Smelling Christmas Tree Around

Not to brag, but I may have the best smelling (fake) Christmas Tree around now; not to mention potentially the cutest! I know you are probably wondering how that is possible… well let me tell you, its super simple! So grab your mixer, some salt and flour, and some paint and oils!

Essential Oil Diffuser Ornaments

What you will need:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup hot water
  • Your favourite doTERRA Holiday Oil (I used Holiday Joy)
  • Cookie Cutters
  • Acrylic paint in whatever colours you want
  • Paint brushes
  • Glitter (optional)
  • Ribbon
  • Pencil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  2. Prepare cookie trays lined with parchment paper and set aside.
  3. Mix together flour, salt, water and 5-10 drops of your favourite essential oil.
  4. Sprinkle flour over your counter surface and roll out the dough to about 1/2 an inch thickness.
  5. Cut into shapes.
  6. Use the pencil to poke a hole through for the ribbon to go through.
  7. Place on the cookie sheets and bake for 2.5 hours, flipping mid way.
  8. Let cool for approximately 20 minutes.
  9. Paint with whatever pattern you want!
  10. Brush essential oils over the back side of the ornament for increased scent.
  11. Pull ribbon through.
  12. Place on tree!

Pumpkin On Guard Overnight Oats

Oh hello fall! It  appears that fall has made an appearance, finally. So with my favourite season finally arriving you can bet your money that I have the crockpot going in full steam over in my house, EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

I really wanted to share with you guys one of my absolute favourite recipes though. I literally wait for the temperatures to drop to single digits and then start making this weekly.

Are you ready for this? I am also going to note… I don’t really tend to measure things especially when cooking in the crock pot, so these are sort of guesstimates when it comes to measuring.

Pumpkin On Guard Overnight Oats

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups steel cut oats
  • 1 cup vanilla almond milk
  • 1/4 cup SkinnyGirl Pumpkin Spice Syrup
  • 1/4 cup SkinnyGirl Salted Carmel Syrup
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3 drops doTERRA On Guard essential oil
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients together into the crockpot.
  2. Simmer on low for 6-8 hours.
  3. Enjoy!

Take Care Tuesday: Tea Tree

As you may have already guessed based on the smell of Tea Tree oil, its not really one that you would want to drink or cook with. But don’t worry, I won’t leave you guys hanging on recipes today. Instead of doing Tasty Tuesday, we are going to mix things up and do a “Take Care Tuesday” instead. Because Tea Tree is so great at helping to support the immune system and is an anti-fungal, anti-septic, it is really great to use in first aid and in aiding to prevent colds and flus! So lets get to it!

Cold and Flu Bomb

Ingredients:

  • 5 drops doTERRA OnGuard
  • 5 drops doTERRA Tea Tree oil
  • 3 drops doTERRA Oregano oil
  • Veggie capsule

Instructions:

  1. Place drops into the veggie capsule.
  2. Swallow.
  3. Repeat 2-3 times a day, until cold and flu symptoms go away.

Skin Wound Antiseptic:

Ingredients:

  • 6 drops doTERRA lavender oil
  • 5 drops doTERRA tea tree oil
  • 2 drops doTERRA roman chamomile oil
  • 1 ounce natural aloe vera gel

Instructions:

  1. Mix ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Apply to affected area/ cut using a cotton swab.
  3. Rub on as needed.

Finally, this one is really great for kids when they get cuts and scrapes.

Ouchie Remedy

Ingredients:

  • 2 drops doTERRA roman chamomile oil
  • 2 drops doTERRA tea tree oil
  • 2 drops doTERRA lavender oil
  • 1 teaspoon doTERRA fractionated coconut oil

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients together.
  2. Apply directly to cuts and scrapes.
  3. You can mix this into a spray bottle and spray onto the wound as well!

Lavender Recap

Well, today is the last day we are spending with lavender for now. So I am sure you have found some great ways to use this oil and enjoyed some benefits from it. Did you try any recipes? Make any of your own? What were your favourite ways to use the oil.

Because its our last day using this oil, and it is summer, I wanted to share with you one final recipe that you will want to keep on hand in the summer months. Next time you get a bit too much sun and start to feel irritation, spray this on for some quick relief.

After Sun Spray

Ingredients:

  • glass spray bottle
  • 1 cup aloe vera juice (you can get it from the health food store)
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
  • 8 drops doTERRA lavender oil
  • 8 drops doTERRA tea tree oil
  • 8 drops doTERRA peppermint oil

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in glass spray bottle.
  2. Shake to combine.
  3. Shake before each use, spray onto irritated area.
  4. Enjoy the soothing relief.
