Freshen Up Friday: Tea Tree

I am so excited for you guys to try these recipes! They are amazing!!!! And they work so well and leave everything with a really fresh smell. I have a few different recipes for you this week. So get those spray bottles ready and be ready for a super clean smelling home, that is all safe and natural!

First up we have a toilet bowl cleaner. Now I have really hard water and find the toilet can be a pain to clean but this worked really good!

Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 10 drops doTERRA tea tree oil

Instructions:

  1. Mix ingredients together to dissolve the baking soda.
  2. Add to toilet bowl.
  3. Let sit for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Scrub with a toilet brush and flush.

Awesome right? Next up we have a spray if you have any pesky mould or mildew this will help get rid of it AND prevent it from coming back.

Mould and Mildew Spray

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water
  • 30 drops doTERRA tea tree oil
  • 10 drops doTERRA peppermint oil

Instructions:

  1. Add ingredients together to a spray bottle.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Spray directly onto mould or mildew.
  4. DO NOT RINSE.
  5. Repeat daily or weekly as needed.

I love the recipes for cleaning with essential oils because they are so easy to make and they are so much better for your household than store bought cleaners. This multipurpose spray is one that I use EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I am sure you are going to love this!

Multipurpose Cleaner

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 20 drops doTERRA tea tree oil
  • 15 drops doTERRA lemon oil
  • Glass spray bottle

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients together into glass spray bottle.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Spray onto surface and wipe clean with a paper towel or cloth.
  4. Shake well before each use.

Finally we have a great smelling room purifier spray. This one is great to leave in the bathroom or mud room to help tackle pesky odours.

Purifying Room Spray

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
  • 10 drops doTERRA tea tree oil
  • 8 drops doTERRA Purify oil
  • 4 drops doTERRA lemon oil
  • 3 drops doTERRA lime oil
  • Glass or steel spray bottle

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients together in spray bottle.
  2. Shake well to mix.
  3. Spray in air to remove odours.
  4. Shake before each use.

Wow! So how awesome and easy was this edition of “Freshen Up Friday”? I love making these cleaning products because you typically already have the ingredients you need at home.

Thirsty Thursday: Tea Tree

I did manage to find a recipe that includes Tea Tree. Now this is not a drink you would want to have any night, but it does work great if you are starting to feel a cold coming to to help kick it goodbye!

Cold and Flu Kicker

Ingredients:

  • 2 drops doTERRA lavender oil
  • 2 drops doTERRA lemon oil
  • 2 drops doTERRA peppermint oil
  • 2 drops doTERRA tea tree oil
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions:

  1. Mix oils into hot water.
  2. Stir well.
  3. Drink!

On a slightly related note, I have another great recipe for you using tea tree oil. Cold sores can often be passed through drink glasses. So this week we have a recipe for you to help get rid of those nasty little cold sores.

Cold Sore Roller Bottle

Ingredients:

  • 6 drops doTERRA peppermint oil
  • 6 drops doTERRA tea tree oil
  • 1 drop doTERRA helichrysum oil
  • 2 drops doTERRA clove bud oil
  • 3 drops doTERRA lavender oil
  • 2 drops doTERRA cinnamon bark oil
  • doTERRA fractionated coconut oil
  • 5ml roller bottle

Instructions:

  1. Add oils to 5ml roller bottle.
  2. Top off bottle with doTERRA fractionated coconut oil.
  3. Apply to area until healed, and apply for 1-2 additional days to help prevent further sores.

Blend of the day: Tea Tree

Tea Tree oil is an oil that I honestly just started learning how to diffuse a couple months ago. I used to totally avoid putting it in the diffuser because I hated the smell. But when you combine it with the right mix of oils it adds a very fresh and purifying scent. Here are some of my favourite ways to use Tea Tree oil in the diffusers at home.

Take Care Tuesday: Tea Tree

As you may have already guessed based on the smell of Tea Tree oil, its not really one that you would want to drink or cook with. But don’t worry, I won’t leave you guys hanging on recipes today. Instead of doing Tasty Tuesday, we are going to mix things up and do a “Take Care Tuesday” instead. Because Tea Tree is so great at helping to support the immune system and is an anti-fungal, anti-septic, it is really great to use in first aid and in aiding to prevent colds and flus! So lets get to it!

Cold and Flu Bomb

Ingredients:

  • 5 drops doTERRA OnGuard
  • 5 drops doTERRA Tea Tree oil
  • 3 drops doTERRA Oregano oil
  • Veggie capsule

Instructions:

  1. Place drops into the veggie capsule.
  2. Swallow.
  3. Repeat 2-3 times a day, until cold and flu symptoms go away.

Skin Wound Antiseptic:

Ingredients:

  • 6 drops doTERRA lavender oil
  • 5 drops doTERRA tea tree oil
  • 2 drops doTERRA roman chamomile oil
  • 1 ounce natural aloe vera gel

Instructions:

  1. Mix ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Apply to affected area/ cut using a cotton swab.
  3. Rub on as needed.

Finally, this one is really great for kids when they get cuts and scrapes.

Ouchie Remedy

Ingredients:

  • 2 drops doTERRA roman chamomile oil
  • 2 drops doTERRA tea tree oil
  • 2 drops doTERRA lavender oil
  • 1 teaspoon doTERRA fractionated coconut oil

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients together.
  2. Apply directly to cuts and scrapes.
  3. You can mix this into a spray bottle and spray onto the wound as well!
