Hello 2018!

Well, last night we said goodbye to 2017 and hello to 2018. I hope everyone had a safe and happy New Years! Lets start off this year talking about some oils that will become your go to oils in 2018.

If your New Years started off anything like mine (frozen water pipes and a dead fish – gotta love the Canadian cold weather!) you will probably want some oils to help you to relax and feel grounded to start the year off on the right foot.

My favourite oils to help you relax and feel grounded:

Lavender

I think this is one of my top used oils every night and has been since I was a kid. Some of my favourite ways to use this are to diffuse with cedarwood and vetiver in the bedroom, put a drop on the bottoms of each of my feet, put a couple drops in my bath to help relax muscles, or even sometimes if I am feeling stressed at work to put a drop in my water!

Frankincense

The KING returns. Seriously though this oil does it all. One drop pressed on your finger and pressed to the roof of your mouth for about 30 seconds and you feel instantly more grounded and relaxed. I also put this on the bottoms of my feet during extra tough times to help me feel more grounded and relaxed as well.

Vetiver

Oh how I love my Vetiver. This one I mostly tend to diffuse often at night but sometimes during the day. It has a very earthy tone to it which I love. Note: you will want to get a dropper for your Vetiver bottle or it may stress you out on how long it takes to get out of the bottle! HAHA.

Roman Chamomile

I am not even kidding when I say I inhale this oil daily. Just the smell of it instantly puts my mind at ease. This is my go to oil when I just need to shut my brain down and relax. Diffuse it nightly, use in the bath, take internally. Oh this oil is just sweet pure relaxing bliss.

Bergamot

This is one of my favourite oils because (in case you don’t already know) I LOVE CITRUS oils. But unlike a lot of the other citrus oils, Bergamot has both grounding and uplifting tendencies associated with it. I use bergamot daily in my “pure-fume” blend and find it really is quite grounding. In the evening before bed I will mix this sometimes with lavender and cedarwood too!

Cedarwood

This is again one of the most used oils in our house – seriously I have to hide this one from Daryl sometimes or we could go through a bottle a week! First of all I find not only does this oil blend well with basically anything, its incredibly grounding. This is the one that Daryl always says reminds him of being in nature, which is a naturally calming and grounding feeling for most people. Typically we diffuse this one, but I also do use it in our soap and his beard oil to help ground on a cellular level.

Ylang Ylang

Not just fun to say! This oil has so many amazing uses when it comes to handling stress and relaxing the mind, body and spirit. Sneak a few drops of this in your diffuser tonight and promise you wont be disappointed!

I will be posting a few recipes, diffuser blends, and different ways to use these oils as well as some more information about them over the next few weeks, so if you haven’t got them yet, make sure you get them on your next order. Also on a side note, if you are looking to relax and don’t have Frankincense in your collection yet, placing a 200PV order before the 15th of the month will let you get one for free ($118 retail value!). If you have any questions send me a message!

On the other hand some of us may be looking for some oils to help motivate us to reach those New Years resolutions. If you are looking for those oils stayed tuned for Thursdays post!

Until next time!

Frankincense and the Brain

This week we aren’t going to have specific recipe days, because frankincense is such a powerhouse oil it serves some really important purposes for health benefits. Today I want to talk about how frankincense can help support the brain and brain function.

As we know the brain is very complex and is by far the most important and vital organ in the human body. The brain plays an important role in managing and directing all other organs, nervous systems, and body processes – it essentially controls everything your body does. Essential oils can powerfully impact and benefit the brain and how it functions day to day. When essential oils are used aromatically (diffusing or inhaling) the oils are directly accessing the brain through the olfactory bulb and therefore have the fastest physical and emotional responses from the brain.

Frankincense is one of the top oils for helping to support the brain and brain function due to the specific chemical compounds the oil is comprised of.

So today we are going to talk about a couple of remedies comprised of frankincense and a mix of other essential oils to help support brain function.

Brain Haze Buster (roller bottle recipe)

Ingredients:

  • 10 – 15 drops doTERRA frankincense essential oil
  • 10-15 drops doTERRA cedarwood essential oil
  • 10-15 drops doTERRA patchouli essential oil
  • 10-15 drops doTERRA sandalwood essential oil
  • 10-15 drops doTERRA vetiver essential oil
  • 1 roller bottle
  • doTERRA fractionated coconut oil

Instructions:

  1. Put essential oils into roller bottle, top off with coconut oil. Shake well to mix.
  2. Roll onto the back of neck to help enhance circulation to the brain and help to promote a more alert state.

Focus Blend

While studying of trying to focus try diffusing 1-2 drops doTERRA Melissa essential oil, frankincense essential oil, and patchouli essential oil.

You can also put this on the bottoms of your feet, base of the skull, and under the tounge twice daily to help support focus and cognitive function.

Frankincense has also been shown in many studies to help with Alzheimer’s, autism, brain injuries, Parkinson’s, seizures, and dementia. When used in the right protocols this oil can have powerful healing benefits to help provide a better quality of life and reduce the impact of some of these conditions.

If you are interested in more information on how this powerful oil can help with brain function, send me a message!

Until next time,

Oil of the Week: Frankincense

Good evening! This week we are going to talk about the last single oil in doTERRA’s top ten collection; frankincense. I saved this one for last, because this is legitimately one of my favourite oils. Frankincense is the king of oils, seriously.

Okay, but in actuality, frankincense is one of the most precious and prized oils that there is. In addition to being carried by one of the Wisemen in the New Testament, frankincense has been used by the Babylonians and Assyrians during religious ceremonies and the ancient Egyptians used Frankincense for everything from perfume to salves for soothing skin. These old traditions helped to develop some of the most popular uses for frankincense in modern day essential oil use.

The top properties for frankincense are that it is an immuno-stimulant, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and antidepressant. With its woodsy smell it blends well with so many oils for great diffuser blends, it helps to relieve stress and tension, and is absolutely AMAZING in skin care products (pst, check the ingredients listed in most of our skin care products from doTERRA, frankincense is in most of them – especially the anti-aging lines).

So what is frankincense and where does it come from? Well this short video helps to explain it and also how doTERRA makes a difference. Check it out (this was the first video I ever saw from doTERRA that made me become really interested in the company and their co-impact sourcing).

So what are some of the top uses for frankincense? This quick video from Dr. Hill at doTERRA explains some of the top uses.

Some other ways and some of my favourite ways to use this oil are:

  • Apply topically to skin imperfections to help reduce the appearance.
  • Apply to scars and stretch marks to help diminish the appearance.
  • Apply one drop to the bottoms of feet to help promote feelings of balance and grounding.
  • Take 1-2 drops internally to help support healthy cellular immune function.*
  • Supports healthy immune, nervous, and digestive function when taken internally*
  • When diffused promotes feelings of peace, relaxation, satisfaction, and overall wellness.
  • Put 1 drop under the tongue to help ease feelings of depression.
  • Apply to lower back to help reduce back pain.

Cant wait to share with you more uses for this amazing oil this week!

See you later,

Kelsea
