Hello 2018!

Well, last night we said goodbye to 2017 and hello to 2018. I hope everyone had a safe and happy New Years! Lets start off this year talking about some oils that will become your go to oils in 2018.

If your New Years started off anything like mine (frozen water pipes and a dead fish – gotta love the Canadian cold weather!) you will probably want some oils to help you to relax and feel grounded to start the year off on the right foot.

My favourite oils to help you relax and feel grounded:

Lavender

I think this is one of my top used oils every night and has been since I was a kid. Some of my favourite ways to use this are to diffuse with cedarwood and vetiver in the bedroom, put a drop on the bottoms of each of my feet, put a couple drops in my bath to help relax muscles, or even sometimes if I am feeling stressed at work to put a drop in my water!

Frankincense

The KING returns. Seriously though this oil does it all. One drop pressed on your finger and pressed to the roof of your mouth for about 30 seconds and you feel instantly more grounded and relaxed. I also put this on the bottoms of my feet during extra tough times to help me feel more grounded and relaxed as well.

Vetiver

Oh how I love my Vetiver. This one I mostly tend to diffuse often at night but sometimes during the day. It has a very earthy tone to it which I love. Note: you will want to get a dropper for your Vetiver bottle or it may stress you out on how long it takes to get out of the bottle! HAHA.

Roman Chamomile

I am not even kidding when I say I inhale this oil daily. Just the smell of it instantly puts my mind at ease. This is my go to oil when I just need to shut my brain down and relax. Diffuse it nightly, use in the bath, take internally. Oh this oil is just sweet pure relaxing bliss.

Bergamot

This is one of my favourite oils because (in case you don’t already know) I LOVE CITRUS oils. But unlike a lot of the other citrus oils, Bergamot has both grounding and uplifting tendencies associated with it. I use bergamot daily in my “pure-fume” blend and find it really is quite grounding. In the evening before bed I will mix this sometimes with lavender and cedarwood too!

Cedarwood

This is again one of the most used oils in our house – seriously I have to hide this one from Daryl sometimes or we could go through a bottle a week! First of all I find not only does this oil blend well with basically anything, its incredibly grounding. This is the one that Daryl always says reminds him of being in nature, which is a naturally calming and grounding feeling for most people. Typically we diffuse this one, but I also do use it in our soap and his beard oil to help ground on a cellular level.

Ylang Ylang

Not just fun to say! This oil has so many amazing uses when it comes to handling stress and relaxing the mind, body and spirit. Sneak a few drops of this in your diffuser tonight and promise you wont be disappointed!

I will be posting a few recipes, diffuser blends, and different ways to use these oils as well as some more information about them over the next few weeks, so if you haven’t got them yet, make sure you get them on your next order. Also on a side note, if you are looking to relax and don’t have Frankincense in your collection yet, placing a 200PV order before the 15th of the month will let you get one for free ($118 retail value!). If you have any questions send me a message!

On the other hand some of us may be looking for some oils to help motivate us to reach those New Years resolutions. If you are looking for those oils stayed tuned for Thursdays post!

Until next time!

SpOIL Yourself Saturday

Weekends should be about relaxing and spoiling yourself, am I right? So each Saturday is going to be dedicated to spoiling yourself using the essential oil of the week. Lavender is a GREAT oil to start this off with because it has so many great relaxing benefits. So dedicate a few hours to yourself this weekend and be prepared to relax.

We will start off super simple with one you can even make and enjoy later. I like to keep a jar of these in the bathroom, because you never know when you will have time for a nice relaxing bath.

Lavender Bath Salts

And finally, one of personal favourites to use especially in the summer. If you are anything like me your hair gets really tangled, especially after swimming in pools or the lake. This is my go to saviour for detangling my hair!

  • 1/2 cup distilled water
  • 1 tablespoon doTERRA conditioner
  • 5 drops doTERRA lavender oil
  • 3 drops doTERRA rosemary oil
  • 2 drops doTERRA ylang ylang
  • glass spray bottle with a fine mist spray nozzle

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients together into spray bottle. Shake well.
  2. Spray lightly into hair and brush out tangles.
  3. Enjoy your tangle free hair!

Hope you enjoy these recipes!

For another great recipe, which I haven’t tried yet but is on my must make list, check out this homemade face mask from the doTERRA blog.

Time to rest, relax, and enjoy!
